FORWARD THINKING EVENT 2008 >

You are invited to attend one of two free FORWARD THINKING events being offered in Florida. Forward Thinking includes components of the ELCA Board of Pensions, ELCA Foundation, and Mission Investment Fund of the ELCA that relate to gifting possibilities and endowments. These are NOT pre-retirement seminars, but tried and true methods for growing and using Board of Pensions (and other non-church retirement plans) to the best advantage both during working years and retirement as well as passing the remainder assets to family and ministries after the death of the plan owner and/or survivor.  We encourage all ages of church workers, and spouses, to attend.

REGISTER TODAY! There is no cost to attend these events, but for planning purposes we ask participants to please pre-register before January 16th by contacting Val Neuhart at the synod office, 813.876-7660 or at valn@fbsynod.org.          READ MORE

> The Southern Association of College and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACS) acted on December 11, 2007 to remove Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary from probation.  This is wonderful news for our seminary and is the result of months of diligent work on the part of many people on the board, staff, faculty, student body and administration.

IN THE NEWS

UPDATE > Calvary Lutheran Church was featured in The Tampa Tribute on November 21. Recently, the congregation's trailer, which stored food for the congregation's food pantry, was stolen. To date, Calvary has now received over $35,000 in donations from all over the United States and literally tons of food items from community members, associations and businesses. Currently they provide food for about 25,000 people per year via their COMMUNITY CUPBOARD.
