The Bishop serves as the
President of the Synod Council, which serves as the board of directors of the
Synod and its interim legislative authority between meetings of the Synod
Assembly. The Executive Committee consists of the Synod Council officers, who
are the Bishop as President, the Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer, plus
two other members designated by Synod Council.
The Synod Council is
also a “ministry council." The council focuses on assisting congregations
in the synod in doing ministry as well as serves to support and (cheer)
leadership of the Synod’s stated
mission and vision. Members of the Synod Council are network builders rather
than independent operators both in Council operations and in their local
ministry settings. The Council itself is focused on a spirit of building itself
as a community in Christ.
