A retired pastor in each conference has agreed to serve as a
Bishop’s Chaplain in his or her conference. These chaplains will serve as an
extension of the Office of the Bishop in order to assist with the pastoral care
of other retired rostered leaders, spouses and the widows/widowers of former
rostered leaders.
The chaplains will often represent the bishop at significant
events, celebrations, and special services related to retired pastors, their
families or their life ministry, as well as providing additional special care in
times of illness or hospitalization. The chaplains’ ministry is meant to augment
and support the ministry of the congregation to retired rostered leaders and
their families.
